Getting promoted is a huge milestone in anyone’s career. It’s exciting, rewarding, and a testament to your hard work. But what happens when the reality of leadership isn’t what you expected?
Many companies promote employees into management roles without giving them the necessary leadership training. Suddenly, they’re responsible for a team, expected to manage time effectively, motivate others, and handle challenges- all without the right support in place. This can lead to stress, overwhelm, and even questioning whether the promotion was the right decision in the first place.
This is exactly what happened to Hester. She stepped into a leadership role in a busy call centre but quickly realised she didn’t have the skills or structure to manage her new team effectively. The pressure was mounting, and it was beginning to impact both her work-life balance and personal relationships. That’s when she found Reaching Eden.

“Six months ago I was delighted to gain a significant promotion at work to Team Leader gaining 8 staff in a call centre environment.
However it became apparent very quickly that I did not have the skills that I needed in order to effectively manage my team, develop them appropriately or even to prioritise my time to ensure I was in control of everything. In fact I would say that the job was running me!!
To compensate for this, I found myself staying later and later in the office and also taking work home to complete at weekends. This began not only to drain me physically and mentally but also to impact on my relationship with my partner.
