Embarking on a journey with a new client is always rewarding, especially when witnessing their remarkable business growth over the past year. Recently, my client and I reached a milestone- the decision to create a comprehensive 5 year business plan. Below I will discuss more of what we discussed during our session, where the seeds of strategic planning were sown.
As we delved into the discussion of business goals, it was clear that my client was fueled by the ambition to steer her business towards new opportunities. She focussed on imagining a future marked by increased turnover, staff growth, and overall, a more defined business. These were not just goals; they were dreams, and I want to make them come true!
In the words of Sir Richard Branson: “If your dreams don’t scare you, they are not big enough.” (My favourite quote of all time!)
However, as we explored these ambitious objectives, a hint of anxiety surfaced. Recognising this, I redirected the conversation, urging her to momentarily shift focus to her personal goals for the next five years. The outcome was an impressive list of aspirations that painted a vivid picture of her desired future.
And that’s when it all came together…
With her personal goals laid out before her, I encouraged my client to consider the synergy between her personal and business ambitions. It was a moment of realisation and connection.
The realisation that achieving her personal goals was directly tied to the success of her business goals.
This revelation serves as a powerful reminder that personal and business objectives are not mutually exclusive. Working on your business will also fuel your personal growth.
Our journey towards crafting a 5 year business plan became a testament to the link between personal and business aspirations. As we move forward, the approach will continue to guide my client through strategic endeavors, reminding us that by nurturing the business, we all also nurture nurture personal success.
